We were sailing out of Port Lavaca this weekend (2-16-2015) and spotted the pair on the larger island on the ship channel out from Point Comfort. We observed them through binoculars for some time. The island was covered with birds and the bright pink really caught my eye. Quite a sight! <br />David McDavid Mchttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17412332494019480390noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3327328801244950917.post-58603983302730773802014-12-19T18:43:43.512-05:002014-12-19T18:43:43.512-05:00Curious for some big year planning, how many night...Curious for some big year planning, how many nights did you spend in hotels? and how many spent sleeping in your car? Perhaps if I find some extra time (almost never), I will continue reading through your adventures. Your count is extraordinary considering that mine stands at just over 200 in November. We hope to give more effort to it next year. Hope things were a bit more *ahem* normal for you this year. My dad was in the Navy and we were stationed there from 1986 to 1989. I believe the pic you have of the yellow housing where the right side is stripped away was one of the homes we lived in. I'm surprised the tire swing was still intact! That neighborhood was called Bayshore housing. The other housing we lived in was in Kuluk housing. They were single story duplexes painted in pastel pink, yellow, white and green. I was only 9 when we first got stationed there. I never noticed these swans, but they are beautiful!
